2016 Sutallee Trace Trail Challenge - May 21, 2016 - Race #3 of the Mountain Goat Adventures Trail Run Series
Come experience a part of Cherokee County that you’ve probably never seen…explore the historic Sutallee Trace as part of the Sutallee Trace Trail Challenge! This beautiful and rugged trail run takes you along scenic ridgelines, in lush creek valleys and along the banks of the Etowah River. Sutallee Trace is thought to have followed old Cherokee Indian pathways and was marked as a major area road of the Cherokee County Map of 1895.
We are excited to announce that we will have a four race trail run series during the Spring of 2016. Races include:
- The Assault on Garland Mountain - March 19, 2016
- Battle of Blankets Creek - April 16, 2016
- Sutallee Trace Trail Challenge - May 21, 2016
- Rope Mill Half Marathon and 10k - June 11, 2016
At the series finale (Rope Mill Half Marathon and 10k) we will present awards to the top three finishers in each category, in both the long and short course distances. You must finish 3 of the 4 races to be eligible for series awards and you must also be present at the Rope Mill Event on June 11th to receive your award. Series points do not transfer between short and long courses or across age divisions, so if you are going for an overall series award, you must race either the short course in all races or the long course in all races.

Series points do not transfer between age groups, so you need to race in the same age group for the entire series.
All races count toward final series rankings, there are no dropped races.
In the event of a tie in an age group, the racer with the higher placing at the Rope Mill Series Finale event will receive the higher ranking.
The top 20 in each age group will receive points..1st place will receive 20 pts, 2nd will receive 19 pts, and so on down to 20th place, which receives 1 pt. You will also get 1 bonus point for each racer you beat, so if you place high in a large field, you will receive more points than the same placing in a small field.
