About Mountain Goat Adventures LLC

Founded by long time racer, Lisa Randall, Mountain Goat Adventures strives to provide memorable, exciting events that promote an active lifestyle. “As a racer myself, I know what aspects of racing events are the most frustrating when not handled properly, so I’ve made it my mission to put together events that offer a great experience, reasonable event pricing, as well as a high level of organization and efficiency at each event." Mountain Goat Adventures also offers specialized coaching and private instruction in mountain biking, road cycling, cyclocross, adventure racing, navigation, and trail running.

Graduating with highest honors from Georgia Tech in 2000, Lisa Randall worked full time as a civil engineer while juggling a heavy training and racing schedule. She entered the professional mountain bike ranks in 2004 after just 2.5 years of racing. In 2006 she discovered a new addiction, Adventure Racing, and has competed in and won dozens of races ranging from 3 hours to 5 days. Still competing in cycling events and adventure races, Lisa has recently added trail running to her race resume over the past two years, enjoying early success in the sport that she feels "she was most built for".

Her passion for athletics, competition and the outdoors led to her voluntary resignation from the engineering profession and the creation of Mountain Goat Adventures. Following her vision to produce the types of events that she herself would like to compete in, Mountain Goat Adventures will bring racers to 8 exciting venues in 2012.

Why choose a Mountain Goat Adventures Event?

Race courses set by a racer. Over the past ten years I have competed in hundreds of events including mountain bike races, trail runs, adventure races, triathlons, duathlons, etc. I know what makes a great course and strive to set courses that will be enjoyable and memorable for all participants. I like to bring racers to new venues and trails that they may not be familiar with. At Mountain Goat Adventures, we want to provide you with the whole experience, rather than just a venue.

We give back to the community in a huge way. Since 2008, nearly $25,000 has been donated to SORBA Woodstock through the Blankets Creek Dirty Duathlon and other races as well as skills clinics on behalf of the Chapter. In 2011 alone, we raised almost $8000 for SORBA Woodstock. We have also given back to other trail groups such as Boy Scout Troop 241 (Canton, GA) and in 2012 we will be helping out SORBA Atlanta, Run Cobb, and Boy Scout Troop 241.

No transfer fees. We want to encourage you to sign up early, so we don't think it is fair to then charge you to transfer to another racer in the same event if you do it by the cutoff. We understand that injuries happen or sometimes you just didn't have time to train so we try to make the transfer process as hassle free as possible.

Wicking Tech T's. All of our events feature wicking technical T shirts, as opposed to the basic cotton T. Tech T's are the new standard in race T-shirts and work better for active persuits such as running and riding. We're working to provide you some very cool shirt designs for 2012 as well as logo socks and visors.

Shirts for all - We understand that many will not step onto the podium, and that your race shirt is the next best badge of honor. We are doing our best (keeping a large supply on hand and printing locally) to ensure that everyone that signs up for one of our events receives a t-shirt. This can be especially tough if a large number of racers waits until the week of the event to sign up. Please help us by signing up early and we'll make sure you get a shirt.

Free kids races at all of our running events because I believe it is important to promote an active lifestyle to our kids. All kids race finishers receive a hand crafted finisher medal.

Registration options. Rather than forcing everyone to register online, we still offer mail-in registration for those that aren't interested in using a credit card to register. For those that prefer the instant gratification of online registration, we developed our own system, rather than using the usual online registration sites, to keep the credit card fees as low as possible for our racers.
